Ryde is the Isle of Wight's main public transport interchange, where passengers from Wightlink's high-speed catamaran service to Portsmouth and Hovertravel's 8-minute hovercraft flights from Southsea converge at the Island's railhead.
A Regency / Victorian resort in its own right, Ryde has expansive sandy beaches at low tide - so much so that the ferry needs a long pier - the fourth longest and oldest surviving such pier in the UK.
The large and long esaplanade has always been an attraction for tourists, and today features a mini fun-fair, bowling alley, boating lake amongst other seaside favourites.

Then it's indoors for a burger and drink before cheering on the racers as they undertake a series of events against a mainland team. Surprisingly good fun!
