Tapnell Farm Park FAQs

Here's some of the most frequently-asked questions about school visits to Tapnell Farm Park, posed by teachers and other group leaders

How does payment work?

We will pre-book your visit for you and your entry charges will be paid directly by Education Destination. All you need to do is show up at the agreed time, line the kids up outside, identify yourselves to staff and you'll be enjoying the facilities in no time!

Is there space to sit and eat a packed lunch picnic?

There are a small number of picnic tables dotted around the site.

How much time should we allow for a visit?

Most groups allocate a half day for trips to Tapnell and combine it with other attractions in the area, such as Dinosaur Expeditions or The Needles Pleasure Cruise. However, Tapnell is continually expanding and we are now seeing groups opt to spend a whole day here.

What about toilets?

There's a large toilet block in the main building which is no more than a few minutes' walk from anywhere in the park

How accessible is the park?

Most of the park is on one level with wide hard footpaths. There's always plenty of staff on hand to help if needed.

Is there anywhere on-site or nearby selling snacks, drinks or ice cream?

There is a large cafe/restaurant on site selling meals and snacks. At popular times there is often an ice cream kiosk too.

Are there any special requests or processes for group leaders on arrival?

On arrival you will be offered a time slot for a private wallaby talk. Depending on how busy the site is expected to be, you may also be given time slots for other popular activities but the park prefers a free-flow approach wherever possible.

Are there any special or unusual requirements I need to know about before visiting?

If you have booked the optional ARCHERY activity at Tapnell Farm, participants must be aged 11+ and wear closed-toed shoes and long sleeves.

If you have booked AXE THROWING, participants must be aged 11+ and wear closed-toed shoes.

What about bad weather?

Whilst most of the fun attractions are outside, there's plenty to see and do indoors as well, so Tapnell is a perfect rainy day option.

Is there somewhere to eat lunch?

The park has many picnic tables available for use. There's also a cafe and a snack bar selling ice-cream within the park if you'd like to plan a treat or a hot lunch for example. We can help with that.

Are there any considerations regarding infection control?

Handwash sinks are available throughout the site where you may come into contact with animals.

Are there any toilets on-site or nearby?

Toilets are situated directly opposite the main entrance to the rear of the main barn.
