Previously a medieval harbour serving the then capital Newtown, now a nature reserve with extensive mud flats and a salt marsh.

Newtown is bursting with wildlife throughout the year, with ancient woodlands, meadows, mudflats and salt marshes. It is home to rare butterflies, red squirrels, wetland wildlife and abundant bird life.
