Previously a medieval harbour serving the then capital Newtown, now a nature reserve with extensive mud flats and a salt marsh.
Newtown is bursting with wildlife throughout the year, with ancient woodlands, meadows, mudflats and salt marshes. It is home to rare butterflies, red squirrels, wetland wildlife and abundant bird life.
Newtown Nature Reserve is great for all ages, but perhaps a little overwhelming for the very youngest visitors
The following Newtown Nature Reserve educational resources are FREE to use when you book your trip with Education Destination. Some include pre or post-visit classroom work, others are on-site activities. All are accompanied by detailed Teacher Notes and some even have sample lesson plans!
